Parent Notice

Dear parents,
We have had a successful return to in-school learning this week. The children are very excited to be reunited with their peers and seem very happy to be back in school. Next week is our last week of the 2020/2021 school year. Our last official day of school is June 25th 2020. If your child has not yet returned all of their textbooks or library books please make sure they are returned before the final day of school.
The first day of Term 1 for the 2021/2022 school year will be on Monday, August 9th. The MY teaching team is very excited to have some new MY teachers joining us next year as the school continues to grow. We are also excited to welcome some new learners to our MY programme for the 2021/2022 school year.

Language & Literature
This week in Language and Literature class the children have been exploring the Magic/Fantasy genre of reading. They have been working on writing their own fantasy stories. For next week we will be viewing some video clips and discussing some elements that make a fantasy film successful.

Individuals & Society
For this week in Individuals and Societies, the children have been exploring and making connections to how wealth and health can have an impact on another. The children have been researching and exploring life expectancy rates, median household income levels and GDP of different countries around the world.

Maths
MYP students have been reviewing the main topics for this year. Starting this week with the area and perimeter problems, students will revisit graphed data sets for modal trends and identifying lines of symmetry from regular and irregular polygons. Additional topics to be covered include simplifying algebra equations and identifying math equations from word problems.

Science
Students are completing a unit on ecosystems and will begin a review of lab equipment and lab procedures. Students will set up and use various apparatus that are used in obtaining accurate measurement, separation of compounds and filtration.
