Language & Literature

This week in Language and Literature class the children learned about Greek gods and goddesses. The children created a Bio-poem to help them identify the characteristics of one of these Greek gods or goddesses. For next week the children will be learning about the stories of King Arthur and the Nights of the Round Table and The Sword in the Stone

Individuals & Society

For this week the children have been exploring who the Sumerians were and what the River Valley Civilisation was. The children have also been learning more about King Tut. For next week the children will be learning about significant individuals from the Greek civilisation and how their influence has helped shape society today.

Maths

In MYP1 Math class, students are learning how to process and extract useful information from data. Throughout this unit, students will learn to sample and construct data tables for different types of grouped and raw data sets. This will involve learning to calculate means, modes, medians and ranges as well as identify trends and apply appropriate types of graphs to the data sets.

Science

This week in MYP1 Science class we are learning about the common characteristics for all living organisms. Students have been assigned to investigate what living things need to survive, and where some of these resources are processed in the cell. During the online sessions there was a discussion of the significance of water in life and how water has so many uses such as in nutrition, transport of materials, thermoregulation, sanitation and as a habitat for many organisms. For this next week, students will be investigating how plants produce their own food in photosynthesis.

Have a wonderful weekend!
